Raido, Odin, and Perth are the selections for today.
Raido indicates a journey. A journey can be a physical trip or a personal development/progression. Today, I led a meeting of a variety of speakers where we are each evaluated on our speaking abilities. This was my first true attempt at it, and I did pretty darned well! I also made progress in understanding people. It amazes me the disguises some people have.
Odin indicates I can change my health at any time. Health may not be physical, it can be mental or emotional, too. Something else to consider, when Odin is drawn for your health, could He indicate you are a blank slate today so you can reflect the health or emotions of others back to them?? That you are channeling someone else's health?
Perth represents intimacy in a relationship. Intimacy comes in many forms. Tonight, it came in the form of visiting with a close friend. As much as I understand family and friends thinking they are being supportive when they ask: "Why are you with him?"; what I don't understand why they think that is helpful? If they see something, they should bring it up and then be able to discuss it objectively. Our parents teach us to stay through thick and thin but yet will ask question our good judgement when they don't agree with our choice. They voice their judgement and expect us to blindly follow. Counter-productive, don't you think? Discussing relationships are much easier when you are objective and open. Appreciate the strength of character and heart in our friends and family. We don't know what the other person is experiencing and therefore, need to refrain from judging until a change occurs.
Hagalz brings disruption, anger, and challenges. A bad dream? Memories of past trespasses? Anger at past events which create challenges in current circumstances? Who knows until morning?

Today's selection was Nauthiz reversed, Uruz, and Thuriza.
Nauthiz represents Pain, Constraint, or Necessity. Reversed, it advises a cleanse, a cleaning. It is a New Year. Dust out the corners, clear out the old. Make room for the new. A new life cannot take up residence in your life if the old hasn't been cleared out to make room.
Uruz reminds us to express Gratitude. Be grateful for past lessons even if they were painful. Be grateful for the past lessons which were pleasurable, too. Be grateful for the present. Be grateful for the future. Be grateful. You never know where a Grateful Life will lead you.
Thuriza is the rune of Compromise. Compromise is making a situation a Win-Win. Always strive for the Win-Win. Never give up your morals, yet, be willing to give to make that win-win.
Ansuz is the task for tonight. Signals, Guilt, and Communication. Ansuz may bring some messages through dreams. There may be guilt from how one communicated or failed to communicate. Communicate with your Self and self. Also, make efforts to communicate with everyone in your life.

Today's selection was Berkana, Tiewaz, and Wunjo.
Berkana is the rune of Growth. Continuing to live ones life in the manner one wishes is a daunting challenge. I need to remember to complete homework in a more timely manner. In fact, I need to write a survey. Also, because this is a new year, it is a good time to focus on growth, looking within to determine what you need to change about yourself. No one is perfect, there is always work to be done both externally and internally.
Tiewaz is the rune of Courage. A warrior needs to feed courage so one can face challenges as they come. One of the biggest challenges is to face forward, leaving the past behind. Not being bitter. Not staying in the past, longing for a different outcome. Face forward, take a step towards the future, knowing that you are never faced with a challenge which you are unable to handle. You can learn from your past: the failures and the successes; taking those lessons to the future with you.
Wunjo is the rune of joy and joy can be found in Celebration. Celebrate a new year, a new life! Vow to put the past behind you and look to the present and live it the best you can. Are there things you have neglected? Undertake them now. Is there something you can do to make tomorrow easier? Do it now. Celebrate the friendships. Celebrate you family. Celebrate the associations you have made: both long gone and in the present. Celebrate!

Not so much life and death, but the cycle of our choices. The Earth, our lives, and all manners of relationships are held within a series of circles, of cycles. The seasons cycle. The year cycles. The Earth cycles. Our lives cycle and within that cycle, our choices are a cycle. We make choices, act on them, evaluate them, and then cleanse them. At times, those choices result in Shame which we can sweep under the rug in hiding or we can look at our choices and determine what we could have done differently. In doing this, we take our limitations and stretch those boundaries to encompass what we learned. Then the cycle is complete and ready to begin again by growing.
Take this opportunity to look within and cleanse the blocks to our growth.

Lets see if I can get back on track with my runes...
Today, Perth reversed, Isa, and Inguz graced my life.
Perth is a rune of change. It brings initiation, revealing a secret matter. In the reversed position, it indicates an opportunity to pause, contemplate your path, make any needed adjustments and forge ahead. Do what's right. That may be within the confines of law, social moral, personal moral, or spiritual guidance. The hardest thing is to do what you personally believe to be right even though it may run counter to the wishes or desires of others. At what point do you stop and reconsider your actions and revise? There is a fine line between compromise and holding firm. Timing is everything, my friend. For example, if you have done wrong or there is a skeleton rattling around waiting to get you into trouble, it is in your best interest and defense to "head 'em off at the pass" as it were. When you lead the discussion with the unsavory, you have as much control of the situation and reaction as you possibly can. If you leave the discussion for chance, believing that the right time will come (and that has happened SO many times), you give up any control you may have had over the situation. You deny yourself the ability to frame the discussion, to guide it down a path favorable to you. Unguided, that run-away will trample you and any hope you had of salvaging the situation. THAT, my friend, is why politicians have a stable full of SPIN! Needless to say, someone I knew didn't take control and it spun out of control with the end result of me exiting. Me feeling used and manipulated. As a result, I am gathering my life back around me, regrouping, making adjustments, and venturing down another path. Armed with new knowledge, which, quite frankly, I wish I never needed to know.
Isa follows suit. Isa is isolating and within isolation, fear can grow. I met my fear today and minimized it by enlisting the help of a friend. Never enter a situation which you are unsure of without weighing the risks. If the risk is too large, can you mitigate it with support at your back? If so, use that support. I did. I was attacked for it. Give me the same situation tomorrow, I would do it again. Always assess the risk, no matter the task.
Inguz is the rune of fertility and with fertility, comes renewal. Renew yourself, especially after a stressful event. Each choice we make is a chance to renew our lives. Escape the feelings of being used and manipulated. Look within, recognize yourself and listen to your Self and he/she describes the You as you can be.
Teiwaz is the task for tonight. I know where I am going to start. I am going to renew my meditations and clear away the blocks so I can begin again, refreshed. Tiw was embodied by every warrior before going into battle. A sign of courage, the brave went into action to create a path for others to follow. Courage is embodied by passion. It is something we all have for a project and another being. The trick is to find the right focus for our passion. If you feel lost as to where or how to focus your passion, have courage to ask your Self through meditation. You will be guided as the Sun was across the sky. words of encouragement
I don't have any runic advice for today: the MIA wallet, lunar eclipse, and ceaseless travel have worn me out! I can't even blame it on a tasty distraction. Oh well.
I can, however, wish a faithful friend a new hairdresser (I loved the negativity post from Nancy, didn't you?) and a sincere wish the new requested meal is better than the last. If it returns to meatballs, I hope the return is a mutual love. If it returns to fried chicken, these things I wish: 1) it isn't a repeat dinor; 2) it has better sides (green beans or maux choux isn't too much to ask, is it?) and 3) if it is a repeat dinor, I hope it is in a 5-star restaurant which you own, decorated as only you can, and his date dumps it in his lap (especially after a big deal was made about the food temperature...).

Ah, what a day!
So, I thought it was weird that I didn't draw something more... telling... after 0630 this morning. I was thinking Hagalaz or Nauthiz would have been more appropriate until I sat down to do my interpretation. Fehu reversed was actually appropriate. Fehu is the rune addressing our possessions. At times, we need to review our lives and the roles of possessions and relationships play within. Who would have seen the relationships which raise up to reveal themselves when you are watching people drive past you as you sit on the side of the road? Huh? Yes, at 0630 this morning my timing belt felt the need to travel through my engine compartment, wrecking havoc in its wake. As I waited for my knight, I was frustrated and amazed at the differences of the citizens in my current state and those of my home. How rude!! Then, after learning the fate of my faithful partner of 100k-plus miles, I went into a sister office and was blessed with a rare offer of help! I just need to make a decision in the morning of what direction I wish to travel.
Sowelu advised me to have compassion. I understand that each of us have a job to do and even though the impressions we gather aren't always accurate, we should remember to look past them. Instead, we should slow down and observe techniques presented to us and learn what we can. I would have liked to have one of my employees with me; however, I am not sure the lesson would have registered.
Algiz brings Mutual Trust. Trusting people to give advice when asked. Trusting in oneself to make the correct decision. Is 30k miles worth the 10k in cost? Its good to think on such decisions. The answer will come. The answer will come.
Dagaz is the task for tonight: purpose found in the new day, hope in the new life, and purpose found in all things. My answer will come. Kano, Algiz, and Hagalaz heralded in the day.
This combination says change is coming: fire, defense, and hail; how can things not roll?
Kano is fire which brings a light to ones life. The light allows a person to look within. That look should encompass the present, the past, and the future. The present is how you are living in the now. Now is influenced by the past. Are you living in the past? Are you learning from the past? Are you ignoring the lessons from the past? How is your past influencing your Now? The present and the past combine to influence the future. The future is influenced by our attitude, our beliefs about ourselves and what we deserve in our lives, and our past experiences.
Algiz reminds us to create and maintain boundaries. Boundaries are important to protect ourselves yet they should not be so solid as to keep everyone, everything, and every experience out. Let things in, you never know what good will come from it.
Hagalaz brings challenges within our relationships. The challenge of maintaining current ones and the challenge of exploring other relationships. New friendships are always enrich our lives. The surprise of the day was when a co-worker walked into my office and sat and chatted for a few minutes. Why was this a surprise? Because when one is shy and reserved, you are torn between thinking its you and you aren't liked or the other is very shy and reserved. Message is don't assume until you know.

Ehwaz, Odin, and Isa offered pointers for the day.
Ehwaz brings movement. Movement came from several arenas today. Painting, hosting, working, and maintaining were all different movements. I worked on some paintings, worked the gallery, hosted dinner, and maintained a sense of balance through my environment. Making progress in my life.
Odin is the mystery of all things. At times, your health can throw curve balls at you through relationships with your self of with others. Look for the unusual, the mystery. Appreciate each person who comes into your life regardless of the length.
Isa is cause for reflection. I took the opportunity to look back upon life and my art training. It didn't help that my paints decided they needed to host some mold species. Why some of them grew and others did not, I have no idea!

Thurisa personifies Thor and advises caution. Thor was a great warrior and had a hammer as his weapon. A hammer, much like the atlatl, requires skill and patience before throwing or the effort is lost as the aim is missed. Pause in your actions to consider your endeavors. Are your motivations true? Is there a different path you should consider? Are you ready to take the steps you are currently taking?
Isa, representing Isis, cautions isolation and to consider fear. What do you fear? Is it being alone? Is it failing? Is it succeeding? What are you fearing? Recognize it, address it, and turn the fear into something else.

Eihwaz indicates I am not out of the woods yet, I still need to defend the home front. Carry on!
Fehu advises honesty. Be honest with all, especially yourself. Ask questions first before offering opinions as the more information you have the better to keep yourself outa hot water. Is there a reason for things unfolding the way they have? Be honest.
Sowelu uses the sun's power to heal. Heal yourself before healing others. There is a point when you can heal others before being completely healed yourself, yet, there is also time to pause prior to healing others and focusing inward because you lack the abilities to act externally.

Eihwaz, Mannaz, and Algiz provided advice for the day.
Eihwaz advises a defense. Defend the body, the spirit, the soul, the heart, the life. Look within, identify one's needs. Are they slowing me down? Are they encouraging my life?
Mannaz is innocence. There is something completely innocent about looking within to your strengths and weaknesses by identifying your needs and how they interact within your life. Wow, can you believe August is half over!?!?! Jera, Othila, and Ansuz pointed the direction for the day.
Jera signifies a full cycle, a harvest, a period of time. Anything you are committed to doing, take care, nourish it, for then it will progress, develop, and grow into the result you want. What stands in your way? Have you taken steps to remove the obstacle? Is the obstacle timely for your development or does it need to be postponed for another time and place? Not all things are appropriate for our development at this time.
Othila embodies family and an integral part of family is grief. Is there something you need to grieve for? Is there someone whom needs help with his/her grief? Grief is a very personal thing and will be dealt with when the time comes or is right.
Ansuz brings messages and messages are delivered through communication. I received several communications today. One I am not sure what to do with, time will tell. The other was a nice addition to my day. I wrote a set of instructions for a vendor today, as well. Quite a challenge for a Monday! I am also learning the channels for my job. They are different than the old. I wonder if it has to do with the age of the two? One is about 40 yrs older and has been in the fore for a bit longer. The other, is younger and has been in the shadows, to some extent. Something to think about.
Sowelu is the task for tomorrow. The sun brings the coming day, a new start, a new chance at a wholeness. A fresh perspective, a new sense of worth. The tears of yesterday are gone, a clean slate, a fresh dawning. Rather cliche', yet, there is a reason for the cliche's. Let a new day, begin!

Isa, Wunjo, and Sowelu brought on the day.
Isa advises to go within and reflect. Inner guidance advises a standstill before progressing. Take this time to gather energy before stepping off.
Wunjo brings serenity to the day. The last day of a relaxing weekend. I spent it with a friend at the family home. Oddest thing, spending a weekend with someone whom you barely know yet being welcomed into a strange a foreign setting. The day was productive, I finished a book and started another.
Sowelu brings healing to oneself. Healing may come from without or from within. The healing from within is much more timely and appropriate than from without. The mind and body are wonderful tools for healing.
Perth reversed visits again. Gather my energy, care for myself, and look at the associations and whom I let in. Tomorrow is a new day, a new life.

Ansuz addresses guilt. My guilt of the day was the observations and opinions I made of others. Instead of feeling threatened by a plastic human and all her improvements, perhaps I should wonder why she feels so insecure that she has to be worked over. Then again, perhaps that is her personality. But is it truly a personality trait to make permanent changes to fit someone else's ideal?
Kano brings inner peace and Dagaz bring perseverance. Strive to create inner peace. That is all one is left with at the end of the day, at the end of life: were you at peace with yourself?? Inner Peace is required to find happiness. Nothing more, nothing less. Yet, the most difficult task of all, finding inner peace.

This morning's selections brought some perspective and happiness to the day: Jera, Ansuz, and Inguz.
Jera addresses a season of harvest. A coming of age, if you will. I spent the day with a friend and enjoyed it quite a bit. I was surprised at the hospitality.
Ansuz encourages me to address guilt. I'm taking steps that I am questioning. Am I making assumptions which are in error? If so, are my choices correctable and when do they become uncorrectable? Lots of things to think about, which leads into the third rune of the day.
Inguz pauses for reflection. One of the people I enjoyed dinner with tonight reminds me of someone from my past. How do you adjust to that without making an ass of one's self? I quietly put my unease aside.
Uruz reversed is tonight's task. I need to look within, be grateful for the lessons learned, and support my own life. A worthy challenge for anyone!

Algiz reminded me to protect myself. Why actively look for trouble when it is more than willing to walk in the door on its own?
Ehwaz reminds to practice forgiveness. Forgive those who don't understand policy and may not have the perspective to do so. You travel in your own shoes, not those of others.
Mannaz advocates loving kindness. Its as simple as that yet never quite as simple as it should be.
Odin rounded out the day. There is mystery in all things. Enjoy and ignore the need to ask "why."

Gebo, Algiz, and Wunjo were the runes for today. I wonder how and why a day can be like today with the runes I drew? These all indicate a good day, a nice day, a happy day. It just wasn't. I suppose it wasn't sooo bad, considering...
Gabo is the rune of gifts and partnerships. I talked to my mom today and she was kind enough to be a sounding board for meal planning for the next couple days. I know we have come a long way in food preparation and preservation, but, not far enough in my world.
Algiz advocates establishing and maintaining boundaries. There are questions I have about boundaries. Some of them stem from interactions I had with a cousin yesterday and others stem from someone else. We establish boundaries to protect ourselves. Yet, part of interacting with other people, in particular those close to us, require us to make holes in boundaries so others can get in and get close. One of the most difficult things is to know when and with whom to let boundaries down for. I am getting better at gaging that. What I still suck at is recognizing if the person or people I am letting in are willing to return the jester or not. Interesting question, one which I will ponder for quite some time, I am sure.

Do you look at what you have experienced and learned up to this point, celebrate the survival and move on? Are there many types of celebrations? What did I learn? What part of me did I share? Vacuums
A statement keeps coming to me, time and time again. Nature abhors a vacuum. This is most evident stream-side. Change is rapid in a riparian area as the water moves soil and rocks around making places for vegetation and trees to grab a foothold to bring stability to the situation.
Life balance charts are a reflection of the same process. I started the process of change a couple years ago. Longer than that, when I look at all the things I have tried to change over the years. Relationship and job status are most evident then and today. What I haven't figured out yet is when you make a change in the balance sheet and then a corresponding change is made in response, how do you know if that change is for the better or worse? How do you know the response is for the better or worse? Time and perspective are on your side. That and faith in the process and Self are all that really matter.
Embrace the change!

Thurisa reversed heralded accelerated change and a reminder to pause before jumping in head first. Ever wonder why that is a good idea? Irrational activities can really mess things up! Slow down, breathe, reflect, and then dive when you are sure diving is a good thing.
Hagalaz brought some anger into my day. I am angry at myself and at someone else. I can do something about my anger directed at both. Be proactive with one and dissolve the other to move on with life. I am responsible for my actions and reactions. That is all. I lack the ability to directly impact the actions of others as they are theirs, not mine. Evaluate the situation. Accept the things I cannot change. Forgive the actions of others. Remember the lessons I need. Celebrate the time and energy I put into the situation. Bless it and move on to the next great thing.
Gebo brings commitment. What am I committing to? The job? Yes. Focus upon the tasks and complete them in a timely manner as they need to be done. My friends and family? Yes. I have even called for help from a few. They have been awesome and come through for me. Even one whom I haven't seen in three years! My self and Self? Yes, yet these are the hardest to truly commit to because when one commits to oneself, it is easy to break that commitment because no one will be there to be upset with you when you do. Its a shame, really. I commit to creating a life balance and to pursuing my goals.
