2 Jan 2011

Today's advice came in the form of Dagaz, Ansuz, and Mannaz.

Dagaz is one of the runes which have no reversed presentation.  It represents the Day, Transformation, and Breakthrough.  Dagaz is also the final rune of the cycle of Initiation.  It marks a change.  In this case, a vow to commit to a project with the intention of following it through.  I am not sure if we will succeed, however, we can choose to grow stronger and closer as we undertake this project.  Trust has been built and will continue to be built as we undertake this project.  I am looking forward to taking it on!

Ansuz is the rune of Guilt.  At this point, I feel I have addressed the guilt in my life, for the most part.  Instead, I am considering how restoration can come about in times of trouble.  Returning music and art to spiritual lives...  Evolving faith in self, country, and spirits...  It is a personal voyage and one that requires courage and perseverance.

Mannaz is Loving Kindness.  To practice and give this to oneself is important.  Once that is done, it is easier to offer the gift to others.  To be open and give of ourselves to another is perhaps the most challenging and freeing act a person can do.  It is challenging because it reveals something of ourselves to someone who can refuse it.  To be refused like that is hear-breaking.  However, the flip side of presenting that part of ourselves and being accepted with open arms is liberating and the best evidence of being accepted and loved.  To offer someone Loving Kindness is not only an act of loving another person enough to offer understanding, but it is also an act of love towards ones self.  Practice it daily, as you don't know who will need it the most.

The advice for tomorrow is Mannaz reversed.  When receiving Mannaz reversed, it is an opportunity to look within for the obstacle to ones development.  Is it failing to show kindness to the Self?  Recognizing the enemy to progress on the inside will be the reflection of the exterior.  Innocence is the starting point.  It is the evidence of coming home.  When home, one should practice Loving Kindness.  That, above all places, is the place needing it the most.  Love your Self as you would others.
