15 Dec 2010

This morning's runes were Teiwaz reversed, Eihwaz, and Jera.

Teiwaz represented the Warrior and was named after Tiw, the Sky God.  I am cautioned to look at my motives and consider how they impact my actions.  For example, choosing to leave an hour later for work due to weather turned out to be a good idea.

Eihwaz, in the healing runes, addresses Denial in ones life.  Admitting ones short-comings or showing compassion for others is the hallmark of this rune.  Today was spent being patient with the computer and showing understanding when something went wrong at someone's home.

Jera is the rune of time and, in this case, Perseverance.  Making a concerted effort to get to work even though the roads weren't the greatest.  An extra 30 minutes on the road wasn't that bad!  And retreating from the world after work is a step in renewal.  Besides, how much does one want to be out in the pogonip anyway?

Othila is tonight's rune.  Separation, retreat, inheritance.  Shedding of outmoded skins.  Perhaps I need to cultivate a more positive outlook for a relationship or two?  In the healing set, it addresses Grief.  With the holidays fast approaching, am I missing having the whole family here or something else?  Is it was was said? left unsaid? Or wishing for the removal of pain and restoration of peace?  Othila also represents Home and Family.  Am I supposed to address the feelings associated with my family and conflict with them?  Create a new holiday tradition while they are here?  I have been thinking about Christmas Eve traditions and looking for one to take on.  Perhaps, I will just make my own.
